Installing the kiosk software — step by step

This page shows the full install process with screenshots, from running the installer to logging in for the first time and connecting the kiosk to your event. The screenshots currently only show the Dutch version — the steps themselves are identical in every language.

1

Running the installer

Double-click MedalKioskSetup-vX.Y.Z.exe. Windows first shows a security prompt because the file is from an unknown publisher — this is normal, click Yes.

Next, choose which extra shortcuts you want (both are on by default):

Select additional tasks: desktop shortcut and launch at startup

Click Install to start.

Ready to install

Installation happens fully automatically — all required software (including Python) is installed along with it, even without an internet connection. This can take a few minutes.

Click Finish once the installation is done.

Logging in for the first time

Start the kiosk via the Medal Kiosk shortcut on the desktop or in the Start menu. Log in to the technical admin panel with username admin and password admin.

Operator Login screen with username admin

Since this is still the default password, the system immediately asks you to choose your own. You only need to do this once.

Connecting to your account and event

The dashboard immediately shows that this kiosk isn't connected to an event yet:

Operator dashboard shows: this kiosk isn't connected to a partner yet

Log in to the partner portal (racemedalengraving.com/portal) and go to Account Settings → Kiosk connection. Copy your personal API token there.

Partner portal: Account Settings, Kiosk connection tab with API token

In the kiosk dashboard, click connect it, paste the token, and click Register this kiosk.

Connect to Partner page with API token input field

Once registered, choose from the list which event this laptop should serve and click Connect to selected event. Don't have an event scheduled yet? You can do this later — the kiosk stays registered.

Kiosk registered, choose the event this kiosk serves

Done! The dashboard now shows the connected event and is ready to fetch incoming orders.
